What sparked your desire to work in a senior living community?
Started out as a cook in the 80s in a nursing home, went on to other jobs and always come back to the seniors. Lots of great stories, love the atmosphere.
Did you go through any special training or education that helps with your current role?
My mother had me on a stool at the age of 2 peeling potatoes and I have loved cooking ever since, I spent many years of my career working along size many great chefs and learned from them.
What is the best part of your workday?
When I can make people smile and have a great time with my staff.
What is your favorite resident memory or story?
I was once told if I can make 50 percent of the people happy with my food, you are doing 100 right. You can’t please them all. I Try ?

More About Margaret…
I am 1 of eight children, was born and raised in St. Paul, until I was 10 years old, then we moved to Cottage Grove, where I graduated from Park High School, I met my husband in the 10th. Grade, we married in 1979 and had a family of our own, 2 boy and 1 girl. I now have 6 grandchildren and couldn’t be happier. I became a grandma at the young age of 36 years old, so them being funny, thought my name should be Granny Marge. So that’s what’s it’s been ever since!

Pool- Was on many leagues, won many trophies, my dad used to shoot with Minnesota Fats and Willie Mosconi. We always had a pool table in our house.

Journey, Led Zepplin, Meatloaf, Gary Wright. Etc …

If you could have a superpower – which one would you choose and why?
Being invisible, I could be anywhere and no one would know.
Tell us one thing about yourself that would surprise your residents?
That I weigh 100 pounds! It would surprise me too? That I’m a good pool player and have beat many men!
